Dharwad simplifies norms for land conversion

Streamlining Land Conversion: Dharwad District's Novel Approach

Ending Delays in Land Acquisition for Industry

The Dharwad district administration has embarked on a mission to revamp the land conversion application process, aiming to eradicate unnecessary delays that have long plagued the system. This development is set to have significant implications for the process of land acquisition for industrial purposes.

The Catalyst for Change

As per Section 95 of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964, land use conversion permissions are mandated to be granted within a 45-day timeframe. However, the existing methodology has been criticized for its inefficiencies, leaving applicants in the dark regarding the status of their applications.

A New Era in Land Use Conversion

Deputy Commissioner Mr. Darpan Jain elucidated, 'We have decided to re-engineer the process of land use conversion, ensuring simplicity and providing on-the-spot solutions.' This visionary approach is designed to breathe new life into the system.

Key Components of the New System

  • Centralized Application Collection:
    • For Hubli and Dharwad, applications will be collected at a dedicated counter within the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises.
    • In the district's remaining three taluks, applications will be accepted at counters established in the respective tahsildars' offices.
  • Enhanced Efficiency:
    • The single counter for Hubli and Dharwad is expected to mitigate time lost in forwarding applications between offices.
  • Digital Integration:
    • Application details will be systematically entered into a computer system.
    • Verification will be facilitated by examining the enclosed documents, whose number has been optimized.
