Reliance Infra will instruct its cement manufacturing division in Madhya Pradesh to produce more than 5 million tonnes of cement as part of its entry into the cement market.
This company, known for its diverse interests in the power and infrastructure sectors, has established a subsidiary known as Reliance Cement, which utilizes the fly ash produced from its power generation activities. Currently, the company operates a cement facility with a capacity of 0.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) at its Butibori power plant in Maharashtra.
Eager to incorporate this new venture into their business activities, Reliance hopes to serve the Indian market for many years to come. The foray into cement manufacturing will strategically complement its infrastructure operations, which include vital areas like power generation, road development, and metro rail infrastructure.
To enhance its capabilities in this sector, the company is crafting plans to ramp up production capacity, with a target to reach over 20 million tonnes annually within the coming years.
The construction of the new unit in Madhya Pradesh has been a significant undertaking, involving an investment of approximately Rs 3,000 crore and requiring 22 months for completion.
Built to meet high international standards, this unit aims to stand out as one of the most energy-efficient and eco-friendly cement manufacturing facilities in India.
