Bengaluru Forest Department reclaimed 2.1 acres of encroached forest land worth over ₹40 crore near Marasandra in Yelahanka.

Forest Department reclaimed 2 acres and 10 guntas of forest land near Marasandra in Yelahanka. The land, survey number 182 in the reserved forest area, was allegedly encroached by a person named Bhairareddy. Market value estimated at more than ₹40 crore. An FIR was filed and the operation was carried out by forest officials of Bengaluru urban district. Replanting of local species has begun at the site.

In the past year, officials have cleared more than 103 acres of encroached land across Bengaluru:

27.2 acres in BM Kaval (Kaggalipura Range)
16.9 acres in Mylasandra, BM Kaval and Kenchenahalli (Turahalli forest range)
2.5 acres in Sulikere reserve forest
1 acre in UM Kaval
14.4 acres in Bhuthanahalli and Ragihalli (Anekal range)
18 acres in Jarakabande Kaval, Peenya
17.3 acres in Kothanur (Yelahanka range)
2.1 acres in Marasandra
3.5 acres in other areas

Total market value of reclaimed land: more than ₹3,000 crore. Additionally, 22 acres and 8 guntas of forest land worth ₹700 crore remain encroached in Kothanur; legal action forthcoming.
