A kabaddi court built to international standards will be developed on vacant land near the multi-sports turf at Kumarasamy Lake, also known as Muthannankulam, near R.S. Puram in Coimbatore. The site will be cleared and prepared for construction. The turf, ready for use, cost ₹60 lakh. The court is intended as a permanent venue for local youth and sports enthusiasts to train and compete.

Kumarasamy Lake was one of nine water bodies rejuvenated by Coimbatore Corporation under the Smart Cities Mission. During works in 2021, encroachments were removed along the eastern and northern bunds and parts of the water spread area; the water spread increased to 20,870 sq. m. The Corporation spent around ₹31 crore developing Kumarasamy Lake and Selvampathy Lake, including walking tracks, children’s play areas, landscaping and other public amenities.
