There is often confusion between building tax and property tax, yet they are distinctly different. The Kerala Building Tax Act of 1975 outlines that building tax is a one-time obligation that applies to all buildings constructed on or after April 1, 1973. Additionally, for buildings built after April 1, 1987, and exceeding a plinth area of 278.7 square meters, an annual luxury tax of Rs 4000 is imposed. This luxury tax is supplementary to the initial construction tax. In this article, I will guide you on how to efficiently pay your Kerala building tax online.
